With an old DC track though, a lot of the functionality is a waste so have a few Stealth models on order to see if they represent better value for money (Although I'll lose the sound?). Appreciate the smoke unit on this just like the Big Boy but just can't use it the way my old layout is set up (Can only use it on my small circular test track which isn't so spectacular). I have modified mine for the Union Railroad. Bought it because of the โkeep aliveโ installed. My frogs are not powered so switchers have problems. Not this one. I wish all manufactures would offer this. Really nice, I have ordered a second one. Great Sound.

Gโday Joe, I believe Athearn have produced this model of an MP15AC with DCC and sound correctly.
Correct colour with the letters CSX very sharply detailed.
Correct prime mover sound also.
The unit runs very smoothly on speed step one without hesitation. Athearn now fit LEDs, an improvement.
The only criticism I can make (and this applies to all Athearn DCC equipped units) is the software could be improved by adding a โstay aliveโ feature.

I received the ATSF Hudson in good order, and after setting it on a small diorama in my living-room to enjoy for a few days, I configured the decoder to its cab address and modified the usual CVs for Master Volume, Chuff volume, and inertia/momentum so that it didn't take off and stop like it was a scared cat or had hit a wall.

The Athearn Genesis Lake State Railway MP15ACโs are truly exquisite models!!
As someone who has seen and filmed both of the railroads MP15ACโs in action numerous times, I was shocked to see that the paint colors and scheme were spot on. Both engines have prototype specific horn placement, all-weather windows, antennas, cab sun shades, etc. They sound absolutely phenomenal and are outstanding pullers!!

I am really impressed with the locomotive. Nice sound features and the capacitor is a game-changer for me. No stalls on dirty track sections! Slow speed control is excellent and the loco crawls along giving yard operations a prototypical feel. It's not a cheap loco, but definitely worth the price. I am fully satisfied with my purchase!

I am very pleased with the Streamlined K4. It is a beautiful model and operated perfectly out-of-the-box! Unfortunately, due to COVID and the recent storms that have hit this area (SE Pennsylvania) I have not been able to run an actual train on the club (Abington Lines) layout. But, I am anxious to pull a nice string of Pennsy varnish with it. At the moment, I have to be happy with running it around my 3x7 test track at home. Thanks for a beautiful, well engineered product.

I was hooked on Athearn Genesis locomotives from my very first one, and this one is no exception. It runs smooth, sounds great, and looks amazing with all its fine details. One of the aspects I really like about these locomotives is their internal mechanism consistency. I've never had a problem consisting my Athearn locomotives together, and never had to speed match them. A great product, and I plan on getting more!
