Kato makes extemely reliable engines, and with Soundtrax this is a joy to run. A very strong puller, 35 cars around my layout with 2% grades is Very Good. Sound is very, very nice, loud and clear. The DCC is excellent, nice even steps in acceleration and slowing down. Just as very good example of the "Big Boy".

Best snap together track system I have ever used and an excellent value/ investment. Has removable/replacable snap inserts for longevity and easily adapts to other standard snap track if desired, such as Atlas or Peco. This Kato system runs very smooth and reliably, does not work loose on carpet. I have never had an electrical failure with this track and if I ever do I can simply replace the snap inserts to fix it. It uses code 83 HO scale nickel-silver rail for easy maintenance and longevity.

It arrived faster then I thought it would since it was from North America, normally items take over a month to get here (Western Australia), sometimes even two.
In the box was as advertised on the outside of the box, typical Athearn Genesis quality Loco. However there was meant to be two and only one has shown up.
I'm gladly able to report that Factory Direct have taken this onboard and have sent the other one on its way.

I bought all three of the SW1500 that the WP purchased, WP1501. 1502, and 1503 and they are detailed perfectly for the WP when new. I remember them in San Francisco and Oakland yard operations. Extremely perfect replicas of the real thing. Haven't run them as I prefer static displays. Excellent job again Athearn.

Great accessory to really make your layout come alive. Easy hookup and really easy to use. It takes a little time to adjust it to your preference since the sound from the subwoofer can be a little overwhelming especially for the smaller gauge layouts like HO and N. But once you adjust it to your liking, it's lots of fun. Warn the neighbors if you like a lot of bass .... lol.

Another number in the collection. Had to get it, to expand the empire. Runs well (took to our club layout to test its ‘free-rolling’ ability) and it did well enough, but could do with some tinkering with the trucks. Worth the money.

This is a great model, lots of detail, good paint, nice wheels. How ever, when I tried to install the batteries, I broke both hot wires. VERY difficult for me to work on the small caboose! Otherwise, I love it.

Similar to Walthers other passenger cars, this one has crisp paint and smooth running. It is easy to add interior lighting with the Walthers kit. This car was used in transcontinental service from New York to California via PRR and UP. This car later reverted back to the standard PRR coloring.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son and he LOVED it!! The quality and detail of this locomotive is phenomenal! The horn is LOUD and all the sounds are so realistic, it's amazing. It actually has truck lights, which is a rare detail. It can go extremely fast, but not what this locomotive is intended for. It is like they shrunk a life-size train. They kept true to the real-life version in every way. I highly recommend this for your train enthusiast!

Nice detail on these cars. They run smoothly and can do even more so with a little light oil on each axle bearing. You do need to attach the bridge plates to the model.
