Appear to be very well built, solid, and attractive. They sound very good too. I also own the smaller 1280 speakers and am very impressed with the way they improved in sound as they broke in with use. The bass improved a lot, as did the high frequency response. Purchased these about a month ago and couldn't be happier. I was limited with plugs so I was looking for something that was USB powered, but I also needed BT. I initially purchased a couple other speakers on Amazon, but the build quality was terrible. I came across these at MicroCenter and they were exactly what I was looking for. I love these little speakers, with multiple input choices I have a TV, an old laptop, a CD player and my iPhone connected. Sounds just fine in my medium sized “media room”. Maybe not top shelf audiophile speakers but they more then do the job for me and my 60 year old ears. I recommend these to anyone looking for really nice sounding, versatile speakers. Edifier has done it again!! This thing is awesome. At first I was worried about the size of it, but I was mistaken. It has very clean sound with deep well rounded bass and crispy clean mids/highs. Really like the nice-looking Model R1280DBs bookshelf speakers. Just added a Dayton SUB-1000 ten-inch subwoofer to my set, taking advantage of the 3.5mm subwoofer port out, which is the main meaning of the model's little "s."
