I bought this for a survival kit. My go-to will still be wooden matches or a bbq lighter, but hey, you have to be prepared. This is my first ferro rod, so I can't compare the Hexa to other brands, but it does produce a shower of sparks. The 3" rod is short so I put a E16 socket on the end to hold onto. The rod is smaller than the advertised 1/2" and is somewhere between 3/8" and 7/16". The E16 socket works and doesn't add a lot of length. For those just starting out ( like me!), cotton balls sa...

The stove is well constructed, easy to assemble and burns material well. You can't beat the 100% stainless steel construction. I put the stove together in less than 60 seconds and started a fire with twigs in less than two minutes . Its simply a great product !

Well overall I love it but haven't had a chance to really use it yet so i gave it 4 stars. The other reason I gave 4 stars is the free gift you sent was the tindar wick and I could not get it to light. Overall I am satisfied and if I need something else I will order again

Works just as expected! Took a couple tries - never used anything like it before - but quickly figured out I had to untwist the end of the rope a bit to get it to light. Once I did that I had a flame after one strike! Highly recommend having one in your kit.

Great customer service is the first thing and a line of fantastic products. I cant not say enough good things about this fine company

I think that this is a really great product, but I had a somewhat hard time removing the protection covering from the ferro rod before use. I had to break out some rough grit sandpaper to remove the the covering to expose the metal. Other than that... it throws some wicked sparks. Thanks for making a great product.

Wife bought me this thinking it was cute and I'd probably like it, I love it working difficult to access areas to to service cell tower cooling system I used several times to light my torches. Nice lil item and most co workers believe it's a guitar pick.

For me, the 8 oz is the perfect size to carry on a hike. The wood is warm to the soul, but cool on the lips. You have never drank coffee until you have had it from a wooden kuksa!

I absolutely love the 12 oz. size!!! As a matter of fact, I'm drinking water out of it now, trying to keep up with my daily intake of water. I've had hot chocolate out of it once, and other than that, a whole lot of water, I'm not a coffee drinker. I love the feel of it in my hand, the holes are a perfect fit, and the angle is just right to feel natural. Awesome product!!!

Absolutely love this product, probably my favorite fire rod I have ever used/seen. This thing throws massive sparks with ease - just go ahead and make the purchase, trust me.

The fire starters you Guys create are the best around period. I have owned at this point at least one of each you make some closer to 3. The hex style I own 3 of each, These things are amazing. They create the best sparks whether cold and wet or dry and dusty. Hands down best. I bought each one to test for the best that works for me and The Hex works amazing.

I’m waiting for a 1”Ferro Rod! Other companies are doing it, I know because I have bought them already. I like what your company offers but you need to expand! I’ve talked to family and friends and they’re also ready to buy a 1” ferro rod, that’s good quality and well packaged with a high quality striker. Make it happen!!! We don’t know how long COVID-19 is going to last!!! We need fire if we need to go homestead!!!!!!!!

Between the durable canvas case it comes in, and the ease of putting it together and getting it lit. This has got to be the best little stove I've ever used. I can't wait to cook on it again. Definitely worth the price. These guys have some good quality products.

I've bought multiple items from Uberleben over the last couple of years and have been extremely happy with them every single time. The ferro rods are among the easiest to work with and their wick products have never let me down. The latest rod I bought was the giant 8 inch version that actually had a manufacturing flaw that only became noticeable after a few uses. The company took one look, agreed it was a flaw and sent out a replacement the same day. Any company that produces such high quality ...

When I need to get a fire going, I get a great spark when I need it with the fire starter, the tinder wick lights easily. The stove is durable. The kettle is perfect size. I feel at ease knowing I have the Uberleben product in my pack.

Both my son and I are avid outdoor campers. I bought the stove and start a flame kit for my son for his birthday. Happy with the quality but a little disappointed that there was no instructions at all with the unit. Went on your website and couldn’t find any instructions on it. Building fires for almost 70 years so it’s now a no brainer. But it be great to have a few little fires starting tips.

Matches are good , so is a Bic Lighter but they both can fail you when you need them the most. I put my trust in the Uberleben fire starting rod. Here is one thing that I did to have it handy. My knifes sheath has a sleeve ( loop ) sewed into it. The 3/8 rod fits in that loop and is always there with the knife. This lets me have the striker ( Knife ) and the rod ( fire starter ) as a combined unit. As a belt and suspenders type of person I also have one included in my cook kit. I like to us...

Downside: This doesn't come with instructions. Upside: It's not that hard to figure out. Downside: It requires a lot of material to burn. If you want to boil water, be prepared to collect a lot of sticks. A LOT. Upside: It's super lightweight. Downside: You need to have a big rock to sit it on because the fire will come out the bottom. Not the best in high fire risk areas. Upside: It packs flat.

I'm taking it on a high country backpacking/archery elk hunting trip in a couple weeks. I can certainly write a review then. I did, however, show my wife how it works. I ignited a couple of cotton balls to show her how easy it works. It's definitely something nice to have as a survival source. Fire is a necessity for keeping warm, as well as for meals. This product will remain in my pack for years to come. Thanks for a great product!

Great cooking pot. Light weight & easy to carry. Little bummed the paracord handle is gone but I figure it has to do with the handle burning or absorbing smoke. Looked cool though. I haven't bought an Uberleben product yet that wasn't top notch. Sturdy, well thought out, and a pleasure to use, just like the rest of their stuff.

Normally, I would buy the cheapest faro/magnizium combination I could find and always found it difficult to get a healthy spark. Recently, I splurged on myself and bought this product after extensively researching "the best fare rod" on Google and YouTube - this product stood out. I have to say, the first time using it I was in all of astonishment on the spark it produced...fire on the first strike. I have recommended this product to my family and friends. Thank you, Aubrey

Two things I'm sure of that will always be with me (on my body) is my Buck pocket knife and my wallet. My new ferro rod is just the right size to fit inside my wallet along with the stricker. I'm always assured to be able to start a fire.

It's my second kuksa and I use it at my mini bush camp in the back yard using an old coffee pot. My mini bush camp is the best I can do during the "lock down". I have a fire pit and am just waiting for the two top pieces for my stoker stove, so i can brew my coffee in my kessel. I absolutely love all of the products I have gotten from Uberleben, and will tell anyone that they should check you out first, before buying any camping/bushcraft products.

Beautiful cup, but I dropped it on the rocks first time out. A pretty good chunk chipped off the lip, so I glued it back in place and did a little modification to help hide the repair.

Perfect size for ramen and a cup of freeze-dried vegetables, the only change I would make is have the handle be able to be turned around outwards without slipping from the pot as well... excellent one person backpack pot, construction is excellent like all the rest of the products I have!!!

As a beginner I found the short rod more difficult. Maybe suggest beginners start with a longer rod. Also maybe consider putting a handle like the Zunden on your bigger models.

Looks like a good, durable piece of equipment. Mine is in my camping gear, ready for my next outing. I sent the second one to my Minnesota nephew who goes into the North Woods a couple of times each year.

Besides having the ability to start a fire with the lens it has another use. It's one great magnifier. If you are like me with trifocals's seeing really small things is hard to do. Well not anymore , this magnifier really magnifies items. It's well made , light weigh and different then the typical magnifying glass by being encased in natural wood. if you haven't guessed it by now let me say .... I really like it and am glad I got one.

This firestarter is great. But the customer service and integrity of this company is top notch. The USPS lost my package and they went above and beyond to make it right. I highly reccomend Uberleben.

Growing up hiking and camping from a very young age I rarely was without a ferro rod / Magnesium fire starter in my pocket. Over the years most of the quality products seemed to be replaced by many other less reliable products even a spring loaded fire stick that was anything but what I'd want to depend on in the wilderness. I discovered Uberleben's ferro rods a couple of years ago. They are, by far, the nicest made I have ever used. They are rugged, easy to use with their well thought ou...

I work for the American Youth Foundation, where we deliver adventure based programs that inspire youth discover the best within themselves and others -- we seek to"enkindle spirits". I purchased several fire starters as practical gifts for our senior staff and members of our Board. They were thrilled with the symbolism, and equally with the high quality design and effectiveness of the tool.

My Kuksa is the first cup I reach for in the morning for my coffee. I love it, and I swear the coffee tastes better using it. I couldn't be happier with it and will be ordering another one in the neat future. Unfortunately I don't have a photo to add, but when I do I will post it. Dan

This is a great little stove at a good price. I’ve used it a few times now, it has a great draw and so just a few small scraps and bits of wood will heat food or boil water easily. I so prefer using wood to having to carry fuel around, and the stove is as light as any backpacking stove, and in fact even easier to carry in it’s nice, flat packet. There are a lot of rocket stoves out there, but again I think this one is really perfect especially if you need or like to travel light.
