I thought all was lost and would have to spend $300 on a new coil when both ears had broken off. But the ear repairer did the job great and brought the coil back to life for just $42. The only small gripe is that the zip ties have to go over the skid plate making it harder to clean any sand/dirt between the coil and skid plate.

Ground the ears where the coil meets the shaft using a Dremel. Epoxy glued, clamped and zip tied and let set overnight. Slipped the skid plate back on the next day over the zip ties though I could have snipped them off. Tested on a patch of beach that I’ve never really had much luck on and found 3 rings and small amount of coin. The fit is comfortably firm and I had no need to use the packing pieces I purchased at the same time. Very happy with my purchase. K

Tested the M8 coil on the upgraded manticore, over ground that I’d been over 5 times already, where I’d found coins and relics. I thought it was pretty much done to death but no, how wrong was I. Hit a few sites I thought I had picked clean and wow. Scored a beautiful trove of buttons, most the generic style while 2 were different. One being a hunters button with a deer on it and another one about 1cm wide and being the smallest find was a sailors button. Moved to another site and uncovered and 1800s Victorian bookchain necklace. Haven't taken it off the detector since. Great for finding smaller targets or targets in noisy ground
