I put the shorter stiff collar on Ruby because I felt sorry for her for having her neck stretched out like a giraffe. It seemed to interfere with feeding-it made filling her crop more difficult because the collar extended back to her crop. After putting the shorter stiff collar on her, it allowed her just enough room for her to bend her head and reach her left leg, which she chewed on (like in the past) until it was a bloody stub. So the bitter apple spray is in a bigger container, should last well over a year. It works fairly well. I only use it when she is bleeding. Hope that it does not sting her. But anyway, the bird is definitely a happy bird and she gets a whole lot of attention, and she is friendly with all people. So I don't know why she started picking at age 9. Oh well. As they say in Borneo, "that's the way it goes".
