With all the B.S. products out there, I have to say that this really works. I didn't want to use a lighter so I used a rod and In the rain. Worked so well I almost fell out of my chair. Have a can in both vehicles!

I think there is a balance you have to achieve between weight and size. I would like this to be bigger, but then it will be heavier...you probably have it about right!

I purchased the large one and we used it yesterday. It went together nicely and was very sturdy once it was together. It started raining so we moved it to the corner of the party tent and kept cooking. Enjoyed it.

I used my first fire starter to start the coal in my coal stoker. Once lit I put a few twigs on it, waited a few minutes and started put some coal on that. For my first attempt at it I feel it worked great. The next time I’m sure it will even go smoother. I really like them.

I was finally able to use these plugs while backpacking in WV. I love how they are easy to light with a ferro rod, even in high wind situations and while it's raining. They certainly helped making a fire on colder evenings easier. Thank you for a wonderful product that I'll be using while backpacking and/or camping.

Have not had a chance to use them yet...but I know they will work fine. I used to make my own version back in the day...cotton balls and Vaseline. Still have a vas jar stuffed full of cotton balls to this day. Thanks for making a much better product in a condensed form.

These things work just as advertised. I spent ten min trying to get a tinder ball to light while camping with just my ferro rod, then gave up and grabbed a fire plug. first strike and and the plug was lit, and it stayed going long enough to get the fire going very nicely. very impressed.

1st time buyer here and I'm hooked on these firestarters. Because I'm a little lazy I used a lighter to start the first one and it lit up instantly. It burnt hot enough to start 2 decent splits of wood up with no problem. The 2nd one was lit with flint and steel with the exact same results. These are Fantastic! They work just as advertised. I ran them under water and then tore them apart and lit them with the first strike from a ferro rod. I have some in my backpack and in my emergency kit in my truck. They simply just work!

This ferro rod is big. nice large handle to have a good grip when striking the rod, and it throws some massive sparks! The fire starters are amazing as well. Very easy to light, compact and don't forget to get the metal tin to keep them in, it is very convenient and you can stuff alot of them in there! I have tried other flint starters but have never been able to make them work. I was able to gets sparks and start a fire the first time I used these. I used them on different kindling just to make sure that it wasn’t just the fire plug. It wasn’t. I love these and will be getting some more to give as gifts.

I used the plugs in the bob Marshall at 15. Below zero, lighters weren’t working and all that was needed was a fire plug and a flint, I’ve always wanted to find a good fire starter where a lighter was not needed.
