It works great on my German Shepherd (isn't the biggest fan but he just lays there and sighs) and long hair obese cat. It does well to remove their undercoat and excess hair. No the cat isn't a fan (not to many cats are a fan of anything they don't decide to do their self) but she doesn't get a vote. Doesn't do much for my German Short Haired Pointer. I'm happy with the purchase.

Used the clippers on a cat that was terribly matted. Was so impressed on how well it worked. Thought some of the mattes were beyond the vacuum. But the quietness of the vacuum keep him pretty calm.
