Holds more than I expected. On a 2.5 day solo semi gourmet trip to the woods the temps were in the 60F’s during the day, and I kept it out of direct sunlight. I also had ice in it before the trip, and a 2lbs ice pack. It fit a 1/2 bag of shrimp, box of sous vide chicken strips with some sauce, 4 Italian sausages, pint of eggs, 6 pack of bottles, bottle of wine. The rest was ice, and it was completely full. I did a lot of research before I bought a high end cooler, and man am I glad I chose pelican. After I had a minor issue I contacted customer service and all I can say is they stand behind their product 100 % and my issue was resolved very quickly. As far as the performance goes, I filled it with 28 pounds of ice and it lasted until day 6 with day use/ putting in more items. Had I filled it to capacity I would have easily gotten 7 or 8 days. This cooler has been with me for years. Hands down, my favorite cooler for every day use. I live in South GA, the summers are brutal here. I picked this cooler after hearing about the brands’ warped lids problem. I’m glad I did because Pelican is better in every way. 100% US made, lifetime warranty, better latches, and beefier injection molded design like their gun cases that won’t warp like those roto molded coolers. Packed with two pillows of ice. Made them in foodsaver bags size of bottom of cooler and small block of home made ice. Pre chilled 18 hours. I cut a closed cell foam mat to place over ice in bottom. Packed with food for car camping for 8 days. I used the large and small basket.
