Such a wonderful activity. Conducted by a Resident at VMCH Wantirna residential facility. A small group of ladies attend the activity once a month, cups of tea / coffee with a light morning tea is served during the event. To celebrate the success of the activity the group had their last letter read at a historic cottage in Boronia, where the care takers were glad to be involved.

I volunteer at our local aged care home and I read Doris’ letters at our reading group. The ladies can’t wait for the next letter to arrive to find out what Doris is getting up to. They enjoy contributing their own stories and afterwards I serve afternoon tea - usually something mentioned in the letter, Horlicks, Old fashioned lemonade or a sponge cake.

Hello Tearoom Diary-ists. Today I got my March letter - how beautiful! And how lucky am I….. It happens to be my birthday, we were going into Melbourne to go to the Lume, and I was reading the letters to my husband in the car…..Photos will tell the rest of the story. Incredibly, the Tearoom’s have been operating in the Block Arcade since 1892

Had our family (10 ladies) March Doris luncheon reading and we had a few dress-ups again this month. Everyone is still loving it and my daughter and Granddaughter visited the Block Arcade in Melbourne when visiting to “walk in the footsteps” of our wonderful characters and they also had lunch in the historic Tearooms. How very cool! It bought the story to life for us all with their photographs.
