This is my third ultra mag and first custom. Absolutely love this rod in a 6’9” for top waters and soft plastics. Feel, build quality and durability is top notch. Jimmy and the Waterloo team make a very solid product and I would recommend this rod to anyone throwing lures for trout and reds. It’s a tight competition between this rod and my 7’ carbon mag but if I had to only bring one it would be the ultra mag for sure.

Coastal Brew’s are the best straight tails on the market. Very durable and I love their ‘natural colors’ such as Nuke Juice, Pothole Pimp, and others. Waterloo always has great stock and stays up to date on new colors, as well.

Waded with it yesterday throwing a soft dine in high winds and landed 20+ trout. It’s exactly what I wanted in my next Waterloo rod…a bit more backbone than my carbon mag. It’s great for fishing out of a boat, or wading with heavier lures.

Heading back to port Mansfield where we had some excellent trout and redfish action on this lure. Stayed at getaway lodge and got to fish with Ruben Garza who introduced us to the one color lure that most fisher people don’t have in their tackle box. Orange, who woulda thunk? Mrs. Garza, Rubens boss (and wife), has done a fantastic job updating and making the lodge comfortable. Great place to getaway for a few days and catch Fisk. Don’t forget to take a few bags of the Kelly wigglers With you.

The Tide or Salinity series are a great value for the performance. Sensitive enough for a Trout bite and strong enough for Bull Reds and bycatch stingrays. These are perfect for young anglers or throw downs for novice boat guests. I own a dozen at this point. My kids absolutely love the custom option to put their name on the rod. Nice touch Jimmy!

I recently purchased a new Waterloo Ultra Mag and could not be happier. It is super light sensitive and strong. The color selection of thread's in the wrap are quite nice and the fish marks for Spec's and Red's is an added bonus too. Ultimately the overall performance of the rod is what has kept me buying Waterloos. They excel throwing tops or paddle tails and can handle a variety of species of fish in the bay.

These guys make a beautiful rod. I used to build all of my own, which was fun, but by the time you buy all of the right premium components, and put it together properly, you'll never beat their price point. It does not look quite the same in your hand, as something you made with your hand, but quality and function-wise, probably better than the ones I've made. I and my family now have a half dozen of them. Tight Lines.

Arrived lightning fast from Victoria Texas. Sunday morning wade fishing and hammered 12 red fish and 42 trout. Lots of catching and releasing. This box never got 1 drop of water in it! Exceptional quality and only worry was “no color choice of strap” but the camo colored strap was an excellent surprise! Thanks Waterloo!

First time using plastic shrimp jerk bait with a popping cork. We killed it with these! I have always used live shrimp but no need now! We caught atleast 40 trout each and never had to change the bait and still have it tied on! Great bait!

I will say at first you have to get used to where it rides on your chest. At first it seems like it should be much lower, until you start seeing that water slapping against you and you realize it’s in the perfect spot. It’s comfortable, enough room for a 3600 tackle box to EASILY go in and out.

My spinning reel accidentally took a brief dip into Boggy Bayou at Port O'Connor. UGH! After washing it down in warm, soapy water and drying it out, I dropped it off at Waterloo for a professional cleaning. And that is exactly what I got, along with the replacement of the main bearing. In addition, it was mailed to me in perfect working condition and back into action in about a week's time. Way to go Waterloo!!

My first trip out with this rod was great! I got the 6'6" casting medium xtra fast Phantom. Performance was everything I hoped it would be. Caught specks on top water early and jig and paddle tails after the sun came up. Awesome rod!

I really really like these rods they are my first HiLite rods in the 7 ft spinning and casting versions. I was searching for something that was light and stealthy that also had the backbone for larger slot reds in the flats. They are exactly what I needed.

Great rod and built well. The only thing I wish the site could do is add a bigger sample size of the colors to choose from. I selected what I thought was a hunter green and what should up is more like a Kelly green but all good.

2 of these is better than the 3 trebles on the TT series mirrolures that I have been using less often due to the damage done to the fish and my fingers. Since I switched out a few, the TTs are back in good standing! I will most likely never use the trebles again.
