I am a professional photographer with studio lighting. I didn't think I needed the diffuser because I have soft boxes on my lights. However, I still struggled with getting the light as soft as I wanted it. I ordered the diffuser and fell in love with it the first time I used it. It not only softened the shadows but it helped to keep the highlights from blowing out. Now it will probably never come off my studio stand!
