Surface matte layer slowly flakes off after time leaving a rough texture and shiny surface. Appears to come off very easily with even your fingernails scratching. Would not recommend for a heavy use kitchen.

This really is a beautiful table, especially for the price. It’s heavy and looks beautiful. We use it as an island in our kitchen and have had it for about six months. We always receive compliments. However, when it was delivered I noticed marks on the marble top from what I assume was someone wiping a cloth back and forth across it. Seems like there is some sort of sealant/protectant on it.
