This item because of the nature of the material tarnishes quickly. The white bar of soap I have has green and dark spots on it from where it lays on the tray and the tray has black marks on it as well from the soap. This is a bummer as I"ve other pieces in the collection and they are ok. I had purchased the soap dispenser and had to throw it away as it too tarnished and leaked. This is why I got the soap dish hoping it'd be a better option - its not.
