The cushions have a noisy plastic cover on them that sounds like a waterproof kids mattress on a bed. The cushions are quite firm but maybe with time, they will soften.

Absolutely love this couch. It is so contemporary, comfortable, sleek and unique. On the firm to plush spectrum, it leans towards the plush side. So many compliments. The length is just amazing - soooo long and beautiful! I couldn't be happier.
